BBL: Because Your Skin Deserves Better

Not that kind of BBL! We’re talking BroadBand Light by Sciton, the most powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device on the market and S+A is so proud to be able to offer this advanced, top-of-the-line technology in the Upper Cumberland. Although we initially opened our clinic offering a different type of IPL, we know that our patients deserve the absolute best. This is the gold standard for skin rejuvenation, and it doesn’t involve surgery, downtime, or suspicious travel plans to Miami!

BBL uses light energy to gently heat the upper layers of your skin, stimulating new collagen, improving pigmentation, and giving you that radiant, “yes-I-woke-up-like-this” glow.

Just a few of the issues BBL can treat includes:
+ Sun damage
+ Freckles
+ Rosacea + redness
+ Age spots

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, uses light to treat skin issues and concerns and rejuvenate the skin. IPL works on both brown and red areas of the skin and can treat a wide range of skin concerns. Brief bursts of light are used to treat rosacea, acne, broken capillaries, sun-damaged skin, spider veins, and more.

While there are many IPL devices on the market, BBL (a trademarked version of IPL by Sciton) uses a broader range of light wavelengths, allowing for more precise targeting and potentially deeper penetration into the skin than IPL.

01. What is ipl?

BBL is a trusted nonsurgical treatment that can correct a wide range of cosmetic concerns, including wrinkles, redness, uneven pigmentation, broken blood vessels and more. The technology uses controlled, precise pulses of light to destroy damaged skin cells and catalyze the body’s natural healing response.

During treatment, wavelengths of light will be emitted to the treatment areas via a handheld device.. The light energy gently heats the upper layers of the skin to treat hyperpigmentation and foster the growth of new, healthy skin. BBL also firms and tightens the skin in addition to reducing dark spots. It has been proven to change the DNA of aged skin cells and revert them to a younger state.

In modifying the expression of our genes, BBL can encourage skin cell turnover and increase the number of new cells on the dermis for true rejuvenation that takes place at the cellular level. BBL light therapy comes equipped with postprocedure cooling features and increased safety standards, often resulting in a more comfortable and predictable treatment.

02. how does ipl work?

Multiple treatments will be needed to reach optimal results. The number of treatments depends on the skin concerns being treated and can be discussed during your consultation. For best results, we suggest our package of 3 treatments, which also offers significant savings!

03. how many treatments will i need?

BBL delivers pulses of light into the skin, targeting pigment and vessels while also jumpstarting collagen production. It’s smart technology that adapts to your unique skin type and concerns and is also the only device with Forever Young BBL technology, which isn’t just a cute name. Clinical studies show it actually changes the expression of genes associated with aging.

Translation: Your skin cells act younger. (If only we could get it to work on our knees.)

Most patients start with a series of 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. After that, we recommend maintenance on a yearly basis. Bonus: With Forever Young BBL, ongoing treatments can actually slow down the skin’s aging process.

This is long-term skin health, not just a one-hit glow-wonder.

If you have:
✔️ Sun damage
✔️ Redness or broken capillaries
✔️ Age spots or melasma
✔️ Dull, uneven skin tone
✔️ Acne or post-breakout scarring
...then BBL might just be your skin’s new BFF.
